CONFETTI has US Premiere, August 20, 2021!
CONFETTI follows the story of a little Chinese girl named Meimei, who has a severe learning disability. Meimei's mother, Lan (Zhu), also suffers from this disability, and has never learned to read. She keeps this secret and has been relegated to being a cleaning woman. Determined to not have her daughter suffer the humiliation of being illiterate, Lan moves them to New York City, where she will clean for Helen (Irving) in exchange for housing, while she fights to get Meimei into a school that Mei Mei may have the opportunity to grow up "normal." CONFETTI is a beautiful film, written and directed by Chinese Academy Award winning director, Ann Hu, and is already opening to outstanding reviews. Starring Zhu Zhu, Amy Irving, and Helen Slater, this is not only one about the fight to overcome the stigma of dyslexia, but also a story of a loving immigrant mother, who would do anything to insure that her child has the opportunity of a better future.
I am so very honored to have been involved in this project.
